Give Your Home a Modern Touch With These Expert Interior Styling Tips

Interior designing is an art but nothing you cannot try your hand at. While you can always seek the help of professionals or others, you can also use some tips and techniques to brighten up your space and give your home a makeover. Planning for space and the impact it creates on people needs some serious thinking. Your interior design ideas should depend on the room's size and for what purpose you will use it.

Here are some tips to give a contemporary and modern touch to your home.

#1 The 70-30 Split

When it comes to the interiors, you have to be particular about the proportions. The 70-30 split will help you to balance out everything in the room. Modern designing is all about incorporating various elements seamlessly. So you can decorate 70% of the room in one style and fill in the gaps of the remaining 30% in another yet complementary style. This will break any monotony in the room and yet result in a coherent design.

#2 Color Scheme

Colors can make or break a room, and a foolproof way is the three-color scheme model. You can do 60% of the room in the dominant color of your choice. That could be the wall paint or the wallpaper. You can then use 30% of another color, which could be reflected through furnishings and upholstery.

You can add the remaining 10% in a dash of another color through paintings or lampshades. It will add variety to the design and create accent colors in a seamless fashion. You can color block the walls and harmonious or contrasting colors if you want a more fun and informal look to the space.

#3 Add Some Shine

The best way to liven up any room is to add some shine and texture. You can have a focal point of interest in the room with a shiny lampshade or a shiny mantelpiece on the fireplace. Add some metals with some sheen, like a bronze figurine or copper picture frames. You will marvel at how much more enjoyable your room looks just by adding some shine!

#4 White Woodwork

There are few things more elegant and classy than wood paneling in interior design, and when it is white, it looks even more dignified. If you want a modern, minimalist, yet regal look to your décor, invest in white woodwork. Be it furniture, a mantelpiece, or highlights in the form of paneling; you will attain a very fashionable and chic look with them.

Contrast it with bright colors in place to give it some edge. Hardwood flooring complements them correctly as well. If you want to mix modern with traditional charm perhaps use live edge wood slabs for a bespoke furniture piece or some wall shelving to add a unique look to the room.

#5 Use of Indoor Plants

A dash of greenery will add all the freshness you want to your room. Not to mention it is also environment-friendly. You can add potted plants with flowers for their light and refreshing fragrance. Individual plants also help in keeping away pests. You can add elegant pots as focal points of interest too.

#6 Art Display

Empty walls are a no-no if you want an excellent décor for your space, and you should invest in some good artwork to fill them up. No matter what your tastes are, you will always find a thought-provoking painting or a piece of abstract art that will match your sensibilities. They will help reflect who you are as a person, adding that personal touch to your home décor.

The size and shape of the furniture the color of the upholstery, and their texture are some other aspects you need to consider, but they are much easier to figure out once you have the basics right. You can look up experts like Advantage Interior Design for more ideas. With these tips, now you know how to start planning for a beautiful and exciting space, which will create just the right impression on your guests.
