Buying a high-end car can get to be very expensive, and walking into a gleaming showroom can be very daunting, with loads of offers, extras, and payment plants to comb through. The average new car in the US costs roughly $36,000, but high-end cars can go for much more. The good thing is, however, a higher recommended retail price means that there is generally more room for negotiation, and more money to be saved by you!

This post will give you some tips and tricks that the dealers don’t want you to know, in the hope that you can save some hard-earned money when it comes time to upgrade.
Do Your Research
Not good advice would be to study the particularities of every car in the dealerships stock list as this would take forever, but it is likely that you already have some kind of idea of what you want, and after a preliminary search you should look to get a shortlist of five or so cars that you really like the look of. Once you are at this point, you can really dig deep and do hard research into those cars. Things to look out for are the optional extras, as rarely will two cars that leave the factory be exactly the same.

These extras can end up costing thousands more, so knowing the exact packages that are available will put you in a better place to gauge what price you want to pay. The dealers will know a lot about the cars also, and if they get the impression that you are knowledgeable yourself, you will be in a much better position when it comes time to sit down to the negotiating table.
Go to a Reputable Garage
This is a biggie. There has been a great increase in the number of garages that are selling cars in the US, however not all garages are of the same standing. Going straight to the dealership that specializes in the exact make of car you want is an excellent idea. They will not only be open to haggling (as let’s be honest, which dealership isn’t), but their expertly trained mechanics will be able to spot things that others do not because they have been trained on those exact vehicles.

They also have a strong reputation to uphold, and this is always their first thought when making deals. As a result, you can be extremely confident that the car you are purchasing will not break down at the first hurdle. They also regularly run special offers. Check out the Maserati special deals by Maserati of Newport Beach for an idea. They’re some of the best around, and their Italian cars are built to the highest of standards.
The number one thing, however, is to make sure that you are happy in the car you are driving. Most of us keep cars for many years, so being fit for purpose and appealing to you personally is the number one priority. A great deal on a car you are not 100% on is not a great deal in our eyes.
