Las Vegas is a city in the United States. Sin City is a city in the state of Nevada. It's one of those locations where you either like it or despise it. I generally fall into the latter group, but I must say that the city makes a big impact (no matter how you feel about it) and it's a great base for seeing some of the country's most gorgeous national parks. Luxury hotels may not be the first thing that comes to mind when thinking about Las Vegas, given the city's reputation for wowing tourists with colossal buildings with palatial, even cosmic proportions.

Las Vegas is home to seven of the world's top ten hotels. Nonetheless, a slew of ultra-luxurious, boutique-style hotels have emerged on the Strip in the past decade, seemingly catering solely to the discriminating traveller. What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas, but that won't stop you from boasting about your stay at one of the following over-the-top hotels, which made my top 5 list of Las Vegas' ultimate, ultra-luxe hotels & resorts.
5. MGM GRAND SKYLOFTS
The MGM Grand's Skylofts reveal an unique and exclusive sanctuary of sleek, stylish two-story, one-to-three bedroom suites far above the spectacle of the Las Vegas Strip. Skylofts at MGM Grand is a whole new and fascinating hotel experience designed for contemporary and sophisticated travellers who want the finest everywhere they go, appreciate art and exceptional design, and have the means to fulfil their wishes.
The Skylofts, which are designed after New York-style lofts and provide panoramic views of the Las Vegas cityscape, have been dubbed "urban chic above the Strip" by some. They're enormously comfortable, incredibly imaginative, and very inviting places that are immediately recognised as homes away from home for today's urban elite with distinctly contemporary preferences.
4. The Four Seasons Las Vegas Skylofts At Mgm Grand
This is the hotel to stay at if you want to be in Las Vegas but yet want the intimacy and service of a five-star resort. The Four Seasons Hotel provides a quiet refuge on the usually high-spirited Las Vegas Strip, with a private entrance off of Las Vegas Boulevard.
The hotel's elegant guest rooms and suites are situated on floors 35 to 39 of the Mandalay Bay tower, providing unrivalled views of the world-famous Las Vegas Boulevard and surrounding desert scenery, much like luxury skyboxes perched far above the dazzling Las Vegas strip. Guests may enjoy handmade cocktails and small plates at PRESS, genuine Italian food at Veranda, award-winning fine dining at Charlie Palmer Steak, and relaxation in the Forbes five-star spa and lushly landscaped private pool at this luxury hotel on the Strip in Las Vegas.
3. Aria Sky Suites
Sky Suites is one of the ultimate locations for discriminating visitors, with beautiful facilities, amazing views, personalised service, a private Sky Suites only pool, and easy access to some of the city's most tempting attractions. Guests are met personally at the hotel's porte-cochère after receiving a free luxury transport from the airport. With one or two bedrooms, separate living, powder, and master bedrooms, and a peaceful spa-like bathroom, the suites provide up to 2,060 square feet of absolute luxury.
These apartments are in a class by themselves, with custom furniture and unrivalled facilities. The two- to three-bedroom Sky Villas at ARIA are a top-of-the-line selection of suites; intended to please the most discerning of tastes, they provide a degree of luxury unlike anything seen in Vegas previously.
2. Wynn Las Vegas & Encore
More Forbes Travel Guide Five Star awards have been given to Wynn Las Vegas and its neighbouring sister resort Encore than to any other independently managed hotel in the world. Wynn Las Vegas and Encore are designed to be explored and discovered, and each guest's senses are piqued. Both resorts feature a total of 4,750 rooms and are considered premium destinations in Las Vegas. Both hotels' rooms are beautifully furnished and include cutting-edge technology as well as spectacular views.
More than 20 iconic restaurants, ultra-chic nightclubs, and luxury shops abound throughout the Wynn property, elevating your Las Vegas experience to new heights. Encore has a younger, more contemporary feel than The Wynn, and its well-appointed interiors and bright, elegant design, along with an outstanding level of service, has earned it a spot among Condé Nast Traveler's top 100 hotels in the world for the sixth year in a row on the 2015 Gold List.
1. Astoria Waldorf Las Vegas
The Waldorf Astoria Las Vegas – previously a Mandarin Oriental hotel – is the only Forbes triple 5-star luxury hotel in the centre of The Strip, and it is stunningly designed and equipped. The building rises 47 storeys over the city's famous skyline. The hotel provides the ideal combination of elegance, tranquilly, and luxury in a non-gaming and smoke-free atmosphere, with views of the city and the desert. The Sky Lobby on the 23rd level offers a stunning entrance to a stylish bar, gourmet dining, and discreet luxury.
The 392 rooms and suites are luxuriously comfortable, with a modern design that incorporates Asian-inspired elements. The bathrooms are beautiful, with views from the floor-to-ceiling windows; but, nothing compares to the hotel's top three suites, which each cover 3,000 square feet. Gourmet fusion restaurants and cutting-edge recreational facilities are unrivalled, and the 5-star, Asian-inspired luxury service is really unrivalled.
