As we all know 2020 wasn’t the year that we were expecting and it’s been difficult for everyone with many industries being hit hard, especially the wedding industry. Many couples have been forced to postpone their special days and are still not even sure when their days will be able to take place. We understand that the thought of planning a post-pandemic wedding might feel daunting, especially with things still being unknown but we want to put this together to help any couples out there who are either starting plan their big day, or to those couples whose plans have been put on hold, to help you to get excited for your big day and to help you remember that there is lots to get excited about.
If you have recently got engaged over the festive period and are looking to start your wedding planning then there are plenty of exciting things that you can do to start to build the excitement for you and everyone else involved in the wedding party, and even with the current restrictions this doesn’t have to stop you with your planning.
Planning a Post-Pandemic Wedding?
One of the first things to think about when planning your wedding is who you would like to ask to be your bridesmaids and groomsmen. This is a great way to let them know that you are not only getting married, but also get them excited to be part of the bridal party! You can do this in a very creative way and make something to send out to them to ask them, send them a gift or perhaps ask them over a meal and a few drinks. Whatever way you choose to ask them we are sure that they will be thrilled to be part of the wedding. You could choose to get a personalised gift made for each of them so that they can keep it as a keepsake after the wedding.
We all know that wedding dress shopping is one of the highlights for the bride and bridesmaids to do together as soon as the wedding planning has started. Despite many shops being shut at the moment you can still get your bridesmaids excited about looking for your dream dresses by having a virtual party with your bridesmaids. Perhaps you could look at some designs together virtually and book appointments at the shops that you want to visit in person to try on the dresses as soon as you are allowed to. This is a great way to keep your bridesmaids involved and although you can’t try the dresses on just yet, it will be something to look forward to when restrictions are lifted. There are many social media apps that can help you with searching for your perfect dresses and you can create your own inspiration boards on Pinterest that you can share with your bridesmaids to keep their excitement up until you are able to go and look at them in person.
Looking for your perfect venue is another exciting step when planning your dream wedding and a good way for you and your partner to get excited for planning your wedding. Obviously with the current lockdown many venues are not able to open which means that you cannot visit them in person to view them. This doesn’t mean that you can’t search online for some venues you love and put together a list of the ones you’d like to visit as soon as you are able to. Some venues are offering virtual show-rounds which is something you could both do together in the comfort of your own home. You could have a glass of wine and view the venue without having to leave your home!
Researching suppliers now is a great way to get excited for your day and look at different options that are available to you. If you have already postponed your wedding and are now changing your plans to look at a more intimate wedding, it may have allowed you to be more flexible with your budget which you could use to increase the ambience. This could be by having live music during your ceremony rather than recorded music, or perhaps increase the decorations for the reception.
Once you have decided on a date, sending out your invitations is a guaranteed way to get your guests excited for your special day and will give them something to look forward to. I’m sure a lot of people will be desperate for any excuse to get dressed up and party with their friends, so a wedding is something for them to get excited about and to start planning for. It’s a good idea to send your invitations out as soon as you have booked your date so that it gives people enough time to plan their schedules and book any time off work if they need it.
