1. Haunted Castle, Adventure Suites: North Conway, New Hampshire
This five-level over-the-top adventure suite can accommodate up to 18 people and is widely regarded as the world's first simulated haunted overnight experience, according to industry experts. Kathy Doucet, the property's owner, claims that the room is "Disney-level," and that it represents a "breakthrough in hotel technology." Bring your sense of adventure and be ready to be terrified as you learn about the spooky history of the TumbleDown Castle and Estates, which is said to have been constructed on the site of a former mental hospital.
Among the many features of the Haunted Castle suite are its three bedrooms and three full bathrooms, as well as a fully equipped kitchen, a covered outdoor hot tub, and mountain views. Things that go bump in the night and unexpected creepy guests aside, you can relax with a drink at the catwalk bar, take a look at the spooky family portraits on the tower's stairwell, tour the asylum and birdcage, sit on the King's bone throne, or take an Instagram photo in the coffin while you're here.
2. The Roxbury at Stratton Falls, Roxbury: New York
When visitors spend a night at The Roxbury in one of the property's eight magically themed tower cottages, they will find that their dreams have come true. The Cinderella Gown is one of the most striking features of these two-story rooms, which blend beautiful theatrical décor with luxurious amenities, including a private balcony. It has two queen bedrooms, one with a fireplace, and magnificent views of the mountains and Stratton Falls's "village scape." The cottage was built in 1848 using timbers from Stratton Mansion, the original building that now houses the other themed lodgings on the site.
Make like Cinderella in the upper bedroom while getting ready for the ball in a bathroom that transforms into a giant pumpkin that transforms into a golden carriage. You'll feel like a princess resting under an 18-foot ball gown canopy that hangs over the bed on the lower level.
Various other dreams come true at The Roxbury as well. In The Fairy Forest, you may discover that fairies exist; in Dracula's Lair, you may discover that vampires still walk the world; or, if you're John Snow and winter is upon us in an episode of Game of Thrones' The Crown of the Pendragons, you may discover that fairies exist.
3. Helicopter Cottage at Winvian Farm in Litchfield Hills, Connecticut, United States
Themed cottage at Winvian Farms in Connecticut offers the opportunity to relax and sleep in first-class accommodations. This luxurious 113-acre property, situated in the northwest part of the state, is home to 18 lodgings that are inspired by the state of Connecticut. They have restored a 1968 Sikorsky Sea Pelican HH3F Coast Guard helicopter, which was constructed in Connecticut and still has its original controls, gauges, and pilot and co-pilot seats.
This helicopter is the centerpiece of their Helicopter Cottage. In the cockpit, you may linger over drinks while watching a movie in the fuselage. The 890-square-foot cabin has a beautiful king-size bed, wood-burning fireplace, steam shower, and jacuzzi to relax in after your helicopter adventure. In the event that you have a phobia of flying, their treehouse cottage allows you to experience a childhood fantasy of spending the night in a treehouse, or prepare to tee off at Scotland's St. Andrews by staying in the clubhouse-style accommodations overlooking the meadows of New England.
4. The Zoo Boise-themed rooms of the Inn at 500 Capitol are located in Boise, Idaho
This luxurious boutique hotel in downtown Boise offers guests the opportunity to sleep in a setting that includes lions, tigers, and bears, oh my! Additionally, the property's four "zoo rooms" include artwork and animal-themed décor depicting various animals such as giraffes, monkeys, zebras, lemurs, owls and others.
The hotel contributes to Zoo Boise, which is situated adjacent to the resort, via contributions and financial support, and encourages families and visitors to visit the zoo while staying at the facility.
According to the hotel's mission statement, "Zoo Boise links our guests with animals in order to inspire and engage our community in the protection of wildlife throughout the globe." Other themed accommodations are available at the Inn at 500 Capitol, including the Library, which was inspired by Hemingway and his house in Sun Valley, Idaho wine-themed rooms, Oregon Trail rooms, and the Potato Suite, which is named after the potato crop.
This magnificent room with a view of downtown Boise is devoted to the Idaho potato, which is world-renowned for its flavor. In addition to Marilyn Monroe wearing an Idaho potato sack, the exhibit includes additional potato-related artifacts such as tractor seats, crates, and burlap sacks, among other things.
5. The MacKenzie-Childs Rooms of The Inns of Aurora are located in Aurora, New York
A stay in one of the four MacKenzie-Childs-inspired rooms at Rowland House, one of the Inns of Aurora, will be a pleasure for fans of the designer's Courtly Check pattern and other quirky décor. Aurora is home to this luxury resort and MacKenzie-Childs' beautiful farm, both of which are located along the peaceful shores of Cayuga Lake in New York's finest wine country. Their designs are inspired by nature, and the majority of them are handcrafted and brought to life by local craftsmen. Rowland House, a historic lakeside retreat and one of the Inns of Aurora, offers four dedicated guest rooms inspired by the designer on the third floor of the historic lakeside hideaway.
They are all decorated with hand-painted walls in distinctive patterns, as well as furniture and objects of art that are both fun and bright. Room Eight has a wonderful view of the lake and is especially quirky, thanks to its gorgeous tiled bath and Courtly Check-patterned wall covering. A free glass of wine is available in the evenings in the MacKenzie-Childs lounge, which is located on the same level as the restaurant. Don't be shocked if you come across unique and out-of-production furniture and souvenirs in the designer's collection while staying at the hotel.
6. The Austrian Suite of the Madonna Inn is located in San Luis Obispo, California
The Madonna Inn has been a landmark on California's Highway 101 since it originally opened its doors on December 25, 1958, with just 12 rooms. Since then, it has become a symbol of the state. In its current state, the resort has 110 uniquely themed rooms spread over more than 1,000 acres of land, with anything from ADA-accessible or basic rooms to three-bedroom and lavish luxury suites available. While it may be difficult to choose between so many different choices, the Austrian suite is one of the most luxurious options, with gilded Baroque décor evoking memories of Austrian nobility and a private balcony.
It is situated on the 4th level of a hilltop apartment that can be accessed by an external spiral staircase from the outside. This large space is 76 feet in length and continues into the bedroom area, which is furnished with a king-sized mattress. Vaulted ceilings, magnificent views from two balconies, and an ensuite shower for two are all features of this apartment. Even if you aren't feeling royally inspired, you should check out the colorful and kitschy Madonna Suite, which has a handmade "pink rose" carpet, a walk-in waterfall shower, and a unique bathroom sink carved from local rock, among other things.
7. Torrey, Utah's Conestoga Wagons and Capitol Reef Resort are located in Torrey
With an overnight stay in a Conestoga waggon, you may go back in time to the mid-1800s and the days of America's intrepid pioneers in the American West. However, you may still sleep beneath the stars, as the pioneers did, surrounded by the natural splendor of Utah's Red Cliffs, even if you are in a waggon with an interior that is more akin to a glamping experience than roughing it in the woods. Capitol Reef Resort is fewer than five miles from Capitol Reef National Park, which is a popular tourist destination.
Because this park has been recognized as a gold-tier International Dark Sky Park, you will be able to view the Milky Way with the same clarity that pioneers did more than 150 years earlier. The six luxury wagons at the resort are inspired by the 19th-century style and typical Western décor. They can accommodate up to six people in one king bed and two twin bunk beds, and there is a private bathroom only a few feet from the entrance.
In the evenings, take a stroll outside to sit by a warm fire pit with a bottle of wine and take in the scenery. Book a stay in one of their luxurious teepees for an additional glamping experience. Alternatively, from June to September, you can choose from both kinds of lodgings.
