When people think of Dubai, the first thing that springs to mind is luxury and the record-breaking rampage it has been on for the better part of a century. When you get here, though, you'll see that it's much more than that.
Dubai is a unique blend of huge, uncharted deserts, lush green farmlands, towering skyscrapers, and white sand beaches. There are so many things to do in Dubai that you won't believe your eyes.
1. Burj Khalifa – Feel like you're on top of the world!
The Burj Khalifa is the world's tallest building and an enduring symbol of the United Arab Emirates. The entire magnificence of downtown Dubai can be seen from the observation decks on the top of the skyscraper. Every day, a huge number of tourists go to the observation decks ‘At the Top' on the 124th level and the recently opened ‘At the Top Sky' on the 148th floor. Following the construction of the Burj Khalifa in 2009, there was a burst of record-breaking activity.
The cost of admission to the observation decks varies depending on the time of day. Surprisingly large crowds gather throughout the early morning and twilight hours, even though tickets are more expensive at these times. The view from 555m above the earth will take your breath away, whether you wish to see the city in broad daylight or in the twilight glimmer of the night sky. Sunset is four minutes later at the top of the Burj Khalifa than it is at ground level, according to legend.
The whole structure stands at 830 meters, almost three times the height of the Eiffel Tower. If the weather permits, the tip may be seen from as far as 95 kilometers away.
Anyone visiting Dubai should at least see this global marvel from the outside.
2. Desert Safari - An exciting journey through time
The majority of the other activities in Dubai are concentrated in the cities. That is what distinguishes a desert safari from the rest of the world. It's the only way to get up and personal with the Arabian dunes. The trip allows you to learn about the desert-dwelling Arabs' long-forgotten customs.
Safari has plenty in store for the adventurous spirits as well. The journey across the desert dunes in a 4x4 SUV may best be characterized as a roller coaster ride. The tall red dunes of the Lehbab desert are ideal for dune bashing. However, it is also carried out in the Margham desert.
The exciting trip lasts half an hour, with a few sunset picture breaks and a stop near the highest dunes to attempt sandboarding in between. Sandboarding is a kind of ice skiing that takes place in the desert.
The convoy travels to the Bedouin tent before nightfall, wrapping off the desert activities. The remainder of the festivities take place in this typical desert camp. It includes activities like henna tattoos, dressing up in Emirati garb, photographing the Falcon, and quad-riding.
The camp is then enlivened by traditional folk dances and a delectable BBQ supper buffet as night falls. The whole desert safari tour lasts 6-7 hours, completely immersing you in the desert atmosphere.
This is a fantastic Dubai getaway choice. It's ideal for both family vacations and bachelor parties.
3. Dhow Cruise Trip in Dubai Marina
A romantic journey across the beautiful waterways of Marina Canals among the towering skyscrapers and glitz and glitter is a cruise supper on a boat in the Marina. The typical Arabic wooden dhow features two decks: an air-conditioned lower deck and an open-air upper deck.
The upper deck allows you to take in the fresh air while looking up at the people waving at you from the canal's walkways and Marina's gravity-defying buildings. The lower deck's wide windows guarantee that those who want an air-conditioned experience may enjoy sightseeing.
Starting with the welcoming drinks and Gahwa given as soon as the visitors are seated on board, the journey provides delectable cuisine. The floor will thereafter be opened for a five-star international food buffet.
Along with everything else, the evening will be illuminated with a live performance by a Tanoura dancer. Tanoura dance is usually done by a male dancer and originated in Egypt millennia ago. As the dancer twirls from beginning to end, his long and multicolored skirt creates beautiful patterns.
The best way to see Dubai at night is with your friends, family, and loved ones. A Dhow Cruise is a fantastic alternative to eating at a restaurant. Supper on a dhow boat is much more romantic than a normal dinner.
4. Dubai Water Canal
This is the most significant addition to Dubai's roster of waterfront attractions in recent years, being opened towards the end of 2016. The 3.2-kilometer canal, which runs through the city's busiest district, cost 2.7 billion AED to build. Before it reaches the Arabian Gulf, the canal even cuts Sheikh Zayed Road.
A running track and a 12-kilometer cycling route may be found along the shore. This location is ideal for a romantic evening excursion. However, if the sun is high in the sky, you may not want to come here. Additionally, after nightfall, the whole promenade and bridges across the canal are illuminated. A mechanical waterfall can be seen on both sides of the Sheikh Zayed Road bridge, which is once again bathed in purple lights. Sensors are used in this waterfall to allow boats and ferries to pass under the bridge.
The Dubai Water Canal has permanently altered the appearance of Business Bay. This marina, unlike the others, is located in the heart of a bustling city. This provides Dubai with tremendous potential for massive growth.
The waterfront will expand dramatically in the next years, with 80,000 square meters of entertainment and housing space planned.
The canal is particularly beautiful at night. The solar panels that power the lighting along the canal charge the batteries throughout the day. All of these lampposts feature charging stations as well as internet access. There are a few bridges to cross, one of which resembles San Francisco's Golden Gate Bridge.
Because of its closeness to the metro, the water canal is very accessible. The ideal time to visit this location is in the evening.
5. Dubai Mall - There are many reasons to shop at this mall
The UAE's biggest mall, like almost all of the other superlatives, is in Dubai. Dubai Mall, which is located at the foot of the Burj Khalifa and spans an area the size of fifty soccer fields, almost qualifies as a city in and of itself. The mall receives more visitors each year than either Los Angeles or New York.
Inside the mall, there are a plethora of bizarre items. There's even a real dinosaur skeleton. You could spend a year and a half looking through those hundreds of shops if you wanted to.
The Dubai Mall is home to approximately 1200 retail establishments. Many of them specialize in gold jewelry. The Kidzania is located on the top level.
There were fewer reasons to spend money in one location than ever before. Even if you don't feel like eating out or shopping for clothes, the massive aquarium or ice skating rink can entice any cheerful spirit.
It is very simple to get disoriented inside the mall. If you don't keep a close eye on things, you'll wind up wasting a lot of time looking for the entrance you came in from.
The best location to go shopping. Even within the mall, you may spend hours window shopping and walking.
6. JBR and Dubai Marina - Where East and West collide
Marina is a Venice-styled artificial canal city located near the Arabian Gulf. The structures, on the other hand, rise to the heavens. The majority of the structures are at least 300 meters tall. Throughout the water city, there are many architectural marvels. The twisted structure of the Cyan skyscraper makes it stand out.
The canal is surrounded by a 7-kilometer promenade. Despite the fact that thousands of people visit every day, the broad pathways give the impression that it is not congested. The Marina Walk has been designed to be explored on foot.
The whole promenade is lined with eateries and branded shops. Marina Walk is a high-end shopping mall featuring high-end apparel stores and foreign eateries. On weekends, go along the cobblestone road to see street performers.
Another open-air mall in Marina is The Beach. However, this one is located near JBR on the beach. Though not as large as the promenade's marketplace, The Beach has a positive atmosphere due to its proximity to the water. From Marina Beach, you can view the Bluewaters Island and the Ain Dubai, the world's largest Ferris Wheel.
This is the location to visit if you want to see Dubai's most affluent neighborhood. There are also many retail and dining options.
