Astrology can be defined as the study of celestial movements and the way in which those movements affect people and our environment. As a practice, it dates back over 5,000 years and has been closely linked to the genesis of many modern religions. While this foundational practice was somewhat outmoded by the more empirical practice of astronomy in the 17th century, its appeal has nonetheless endured – and today, many people find comfort, guidance, and strength in understanding their place in the stars, often via the Zodiac.

The Zodiac Signs
The Zodiac describes twelve “signs”, represented by constellations in the night sky. Their placement in relation to the Sun, Moon, and Earth can influence our personalities, giving us unique insights into things we can expect from ourselves and others. Zodiac signs also govern our core personality types, based on which sign we were born under. Here is a brief breakdown of those signs and what they indicate about you:
Aquarius – (20th January - 18th February)
Take well to problem solving, and are given to collaboration; they have a creative mind, which can sometimes bore easily.
Pisces – (19th February - 20th March)
An extremely creative group, with strong intuition and a mind for others. They have a freedom to them, but by that virtue struggle with organisation.
Aries (21st March - 19th April)
Born leaders, Aries are generally a dynamic and courageous set, with the caveat that they can be impulsive and at times resistant to authority.
Taurus (20th April - 20th May)
Reliable, as a rule – whether exercising patience or solving problems for you. Like Aries, they can be inflexible, but easily bored as opposed to obstinate.
Gemini – (21st May - 20th June)
The life of the party; animated, excited and raring to go. Though excellent communicators, they may struggle to keep attention.
Cancer – (21st June - 22nd July)
To be a Cancer is to be empathetic and considerate to others. Cancers are great team players and people pleasers – perhaps to a fault.
Leo – (23rd July - 22nd August)
Leos are brave, and more than willing to enter the limelight where necessary. They are bold and enthusiastic, but can struggle with their pride.
Virgo – (23rd August - 22nd September)
Virgos are often the organised type, with a penchant for managing their time and their ambitions. They have an eye for detail, but can get stuck in those same details.
Libra – (23rd September - 22nd October)
Born diplomats; brilliant communicators with an empathetic edge, Libras are skilled at managing conflict – if a little indecisive with regard to themselves.
Scorpio – (23rd October - 21st November)
Intuitive and great for communication and understanding as a result. Their strong will complements their intuition, but can result in an overweening intensity.
Sagittarius – (22nd November - 21st December)
Sagittarius (which is the December 12 zodiac) represents optimism for many; those born under this sign are enthusiastic and welcoming, though they can at times become blunt in the instruction of others.
Capricorn – (22nd December - 19th January)
Go-getters at heart, with strong organizational skills and an excellent work ethic. They lead with impunity but can be a little strong in their authoritativeness.
How Star Signs Interact in the Workplace
Understanding these star signs and their typical characteristics can be leveraged to create a more harmonious and collaborative work environment. With that in mind, business card specialists instantprint carried out a survey to find out the most – and least – desirable workplace traits. They also discussed the role of astrology in the workplace, consulting expert astrologer Bex Milford on the best ways to make the most of compatible star signs.
“Since certain signs resonate with different traits, it’s natural that some will find themselves more compatible in a working environment with others,” Milford said.
“Of course, it depends on what industry they’re working in within a big corporation, Capricorn and Aries will be strident leaders, although may struggle with the more ‘go with the flow’, creative nature of Pisces or the fixed (and sometimes stubborn) mentality of Taurus.
“As with all of these things, having a supportive mix assigned to different roles is the key – Virgos will love to plan, Leos will love to present, and Sagittarius will stride ahead with boundless enthusiasm.”
